International Banking Association (IBA) elects a new board

May 14, 2024

The International Banking Association, which represents the interests of the international banking industry in Curaçao and Sint Maarten and promotes the quality of the sector's services, has elected a new board on May 14, 2024.

The new board has Mr. Jonathan Luckmann of Citco Banking Corporation N.V. as chairman, Mr. Lionel Anthony of Exprinter International Bank N.V. as vice-chairman, Mrs. Maritza Martis of LAAD Americas N.V. as secretary, Mr. Edmond Martes of RBC Royal Bank International N.V. as treasurer and as board members, Mrs. Myra Jezek of United International Bank N.V., Mr. Oscar Alvarado of Bancaribe Curaçao Bank N.V., and Mr. Remco Meulens of Maduro & Curiel's Bank International N.V.

The challenges in our international financial sector are great, but IBA is convinced that the sector continues to have potential. Collaboration between all stakeholders involved is of great importance to strategically repositioning the sector. High on IBA's agenda is the upcoming Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF) Mutual Evaluation (MEVAL) this year. A positive assessment of compliance with international standards in the fight against money laundering, terrorist financing and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction by all relevant agencies from the public and private sectors of Curaçao is crucial for our economy. IBA remains involved in the preparations and, together with all stakeholders, looks forward to a positive assessment by the CFATF.
